Double attack

Two threats, one move

The idea

A double attack creates two threats at once. The opponent can only meet one. It's the engine behind nearly every tactic — a fork is a double attack, so is a discovered attack. Most combinations work because a single move creates two problems and the opponent only has time to fix one.
