Discovered attacks
Move one, unleash another
The idea
A discovered attack happens when you move one piece and reveal an attack from a piece behind it. The moving piece can do its own job (attack, capture, even check) while the unmasked piece simultaneously attacks something else. Discovered checks are nearly unstoppable — the king has to deal with the check, and your moving piece grabs whatever it wants.
