Skewers
Pin in reverse
The idea
A skewer is a pin's cousin: a valuable piece is attacked, and when it moves out of the way, a less valuable piece is exposed behind it. The opponent has to move the front piece, and you grab the back one. Like a pin, only long-range pieces can skewer — bishops, rooks, queens.

The king on a1 and rook on h8 share the a1–h8 diagonal. Bb2+ checks the king through that diagonal — when the king steps aside, the rook is wide open.
